Riot police tackled a teenager to the ground after around 500 youths crashed a 16th birthday party in Sydney’s south on Friday evening.
Incident Unfolds in Kirrawee
Officers responded to a house on Bounty Avenue in Kirrawee around 7:15 p.m. following reports of an out-of-control gathering. Thousands of uninvited teens fled the property as police arrived on the scene.
Some gatecrashers hurled bottles and cans at officers, prompting the use of capsicum spray to restore order. Three 16-year-old boys faced arrest but were released without charges.
Shocking Footage and Police Action
Video footage captures one boy restrained by officers, his head striking the ground multiple times. Authorities state the teen had thrown a full can of alcohol at police.
A police helicopter circled the suburb, deploying a spotlight on streets to scatter the crowd. It took more than an hour for the situation to calm down.
No Injuries Reported
Officials confirm no injuries occurred during the incident.
Shocked neighbors described watching hordes of teenagers escaping. “There were a few people climbing over their neighbors’ fence here to get in and out of the party,” said local resident Aedan Byrne.
Police urge anyone in the area with dashcam or CCTV footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
