From his golf club in Florida, Trump shared the message on Truth Social shortly after directing strikes on military targets at Kharg Island, Iran’s primary oil export hub. The action escalates a Middle East conflict ongoing for over two weeks.

“Many Countries, especially those who are affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending War Ships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe,” Trump posted.

He expressed hope that China, France, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom would contribute vessels, marking his first public acknowledgment that the U.S. might require allied support to fully restore access. Despite claiming Iran’s military stands “already destroyed 100%,” Trump noted Tehran’s capacity to threaten shipping with drones, mines, and short-range missiles persists. He affirmed the U.S. plans aggressive bombing along Iran’s shoreline to neutralize these risks.

Iran employs the partial strait closure—through which one-fifth of global oil typically flows—to disrupt energy markets and pressure the U.S. and Israel. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi clarified the waterway remains open except to vessels from enemy nations.
