Gordon Ramsay dives into the pool, drawing inspiration from his Olympic champion son-in-law Adam Peaty, as he ramps up training for an upcoming Ironman triathlon.
Ironman Training Regimen
The endurance event features a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, and 26.22-mile marathon run all in one day. Ramsay shared updates from the Toronto Athletic Club in Canada via his Instagram Story on Saturday, posting a topless photo at the poolside.
He showcased a branded swimming cap for the Ironman race scheduled later this year in Costa Navarino, Peloponnese, Greece. A fitness watch snapshot revealed he completed 2,000 meters in 33 minutes.
Family Ties and Shared Passion
Adam Peaty, a three-time Olympic gold medalist in breaststroke, married Ramsay’s daughter Holly on December 27. The duo shares a strong connection, highlighted by Peaty addressing Ramsay as ‘dad.’
Ramsay shared on Gaby Roslin’s Reasons To Be Joyful podcast: ‘He calls me dad. He messaged me and said “Hey dad, what have you got? Hey dad, are you around later?” And it’s just like, “Oh my God”. Incredible. And what a lovely couple. They are a dream for Tana and I.’
Notable similarities appear in their wedding photos. At 30, Ramsay wed Tana in 1996, sporting a hairstyle akin to Peaty’s current quiff at age 31. Peaty wore a traditional tuxedo, while Ramsay chose grey trousers, a matching waistcoat, and striped tie.
Public Support Amid Family Challenges
Ramsay voiced strong backing for Peaty during an emotional wedding speech where the swimmer vowed to ‘always choose’ his wife. Peaty wiped away tears at the altar as Holly walked down the aisle with her father. Ramsay commented online: ‘Beautiful words @adamramsaypeaty @hollyramsaypeaty True Love ❤️ congratulations love you both so much Dad ❤️’
Tensions persist with Peaty’s family after he excluded his parents, Caroline and Mark, from the wedding. His aunt, Louise Williams, criticized the situation on Threads, praising Mark’s sacrifices as a bricklayer who ‘worked his hands raw and bleeding’ to support Peaty’s swimming career without complaint.
