Eccentric Ensembles Steal the Show
Anya Taylor-Joy and Julia Fox captivated attendees with their bold, circus-inspired outfits at the Vanity Fair Oscar party after the 98th Academy Awards in Los Angeles.
The 29-year-old actress donned a sleek black bodysuit paired with sheer black tights, an ornate headpiece, and pointed heels, accentuating her slender frame. She accessorized with diamond rings, a pendant necklace, and dangling earrings, striking sultry poses for photographers.
Julia Fox, 36, embraced a harlequin theme in a striking dress featuring a black-and-white patterned corset with exaggerated shoulders, a full white skirt, and beaded detailing. She styled her hair in space buns, sported bleached eyebrows, and added emerald-and-diamond earrings, delivering intense stares to the cameras.
The duo posed together on the red carpet, creating a dramatic spectacle amid other star-studded arrivals.
Fashion as Performance Art
Julia Fox views fashion as a storytelling medium. She has stated, ‘Fashion, for me, has always been about telling stories. It’s an art form, it’s self-expression, it’s playing characters… And my outfits have always been the moment. It would be nice to eventually do a retrospective of all my looks, so I hope all these designers are keeping them safe for when I have my own exhibition at the Met.’
Anya Taylor-Joy shares a similar perspective on red carpet style, describing it as performance art. In 2023, she remarked, ‘I grew up such a tomboy… I never paid attention to clothes until I realized that it was a form of performance art for me—specifically, on the red carpet. I love drama. I love theatricality. I love leaning into a theme… We approach it not as, “We’re going to be wearing some clothes to this.” We create… It’s bizarre that [red carpets are] a huge part of my normal life, but it’s not normal life at all… I have so much more fun thinking of it as—we dress up for this, we feed into the fantasy of it a little bit. Then I get to embody a character.’
