Rangers winger Mikey Moore has pulled out of England Under-19 duty citing medical reasons. The 18-year-old Tottenham Hotspur loanee was set to join the Young Lions in Portugal for Euro 2026 qualifiers against Serbia, Poland, and Portugal. Instead, he remains in Glasgow, with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Harry Howell replacing him in the squad.
Injury Precautions and Recent Form
England Football confirms the withdrawal on medical grounds, a likely precaution following a minor issue Moore nursed before Rangers’ recent match against Aberdeen. Despite the knock, the teenager started and scored in the 4-1 victory at Ibrox, earning a spot in the SPFL Team of the Week.
Rangers prioritize keeping Moore fit amid the Scottish Premiership title race run-in, which resumes against Dundee United after the international break.
Title Race Standings
The Govan club trails leaders Hearts by three points and leads third-placed Celtic by two, with seven matches left. Moore has shone as one of Rangers’ most creative players lately, winning over fans who hope he extends his loan from Spurs.
Moore’s Thoughts on His Future
In a post-match interview, Moore expressed his affection for Rangers: “I’ve loved every single second I’ve been here and I think the club is special and it’s special to me now.”
He added uncertainty about his next steps: “For me, I’m just going to enjoy the next seven games and obviously I need to speak to people back home. I never know what can happen. For me, to be honest, I have no clue. We’ll have conversations in the summer and we’ll see what happens.”
Moore noted ongoing discussions: “I don’t know if there’s been much club-to-club contact yet, but I know that people have spoke to me and the people around me, so conversations are happening and we’ll see what happens come the end of the season. I just want to enjoy the last seven games and obviously I’ve absolutely loved it up here, so we’ll see what happens.”
Reflecting on club changes, he said: “Obviously, I don’t know what’s happening with the manager and what’s happening at the club at the minute. We’ll see how the season ends, who comes in and I’m going to speak to people and just try and find the best solution for me. I think this has been unbelievable for me and if it’s right for me next year, then I’d love to stay here, but we have to see what’s going to happen.”
