Prosecutors are pushing for an adult sentence against a 17-year-old charged in the quadruple homicide on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation last year.
The youth, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces four counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Shauna Fay, Tracey Hotomani, Sheldon Quewezance, and Terry Jack. The accused also faces one count of attempted murder.
Notice Filed for Adult Sentencing
Crown prosecutor J. Patrick Malone signed a Notice of Intention on February 25, 2026, stating the intent to pursue an adult sentence upon conviction. The notice was submitted to Regina Provincial Court on March 26 ahead of the youth’s court appearance the following day. The case has been postponed to April 9.
Additional Suspects in the Case
A second youth, also shielded by the Youth Criminal Justice Act, pleaded guilty to manslaughter last month.
Darius Racette, 18, remains charged with four counts of first-degree murder related to the incident.
