A new free-to-play Borderlands game has suddenly appeared on mobile devices. Zynga published Borderlands Mobile this week, developed by its NaturalMotion studio, known for Star Wars: Hunters. The title serves as a limited-time test and is currently exclusive to the App Store for iPhone users in the US.
Game Availability and Access
Players outside the US, such as in the UK, face region restrictions and cannot download the game yet. No Android version exists at launch, and its future expansion remains uncertain.
Zynga’s Statement on the Launch
“We are always exploring ways to introduce Borderlands to new audiences,” a Zynga spokesperson stated. “Zynga’s NaturalMotion studio is currently conducting a limited-time test for an untitled Borderlands mobile project, with Gearbox providing creative guidance on the franchise’s design, history, and lore. We hope that players enjoy this new Borderlands experience and look forward to their feedback.”
Core Features and Gameplay
No official trailer or footage has surfaced, but App Store screenshots reveal familiar characters including Tiny Tina, Moxxi, a Psycho, and Claptrap. The game delivers an action-packed looter shooter experience with Vault Hunters, capturing the series’ chaotic art style and gunplay optimized for mobile.
Hunt legendary loot to upgrade abilities and customize playstyles, wielding pistols to rocket launchers against foes. Battle skags, bandits, and bosses across missions like Campaign Missions, Tower of Terror, and Circle of Slaughter.
Developers aim to bring Borderlands’ signature mayhem to mobile for the first time, pending player feedback and potential wider rollout.
