StudioCanal unveiled major expansions for the beloved Paddington franchise at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. The announcements include a fourth live-action film, a new animated feature, and an upcoming TV series.
Paddington 4 Moves Forward
StudioCanal CEO Anna Marsh confirmed that Paddington 4 is in active development. A team of comedy writers is currently scripting the sequel, building on the series’ success.
New Animated Feature and TV Show
Beyond the live-action continuation, a separate animated Paddington film is underway. This joins a previously revealed Paddington TV series, offering fresh adventures for the iconic bear.
Franchise Background
StudioCanal UK launched the live-action animated films in 2014, with Paul King directing the first two. Ben Whishaw voices Michael Bond’s Paddington Bear throughout. Paddington 2 earned widespread acclaim as a standout family film. The third installment, Paddington in Peru, arrived two years ago under new director and writer, with Emily Mortimer stepping in as Mrs. Brown in place of Sally Hawkins.
Following the Peruvian escapades, the next chapter likely brings Paddington back to London. Fans anticipate potential returns like Hugh Grant as the memorable antagonist Phoenix Buchanan.
