Mohamed Salah has played his last game for Liverpool after sustaining a hamstring tear during the team’s victory over Crystal Palace. The injury sidelines the Egyptian star for the remainder of the season, denying him a proper farewell at Anfield before his departure this summer following nine years with the club.
Injury Diagnosis and Recovery Timeline
Egypt national team director Ibrahim Hassan confirmed the severity of the injury, stating: ‘He has suffered a hamstring tear and will require four weeks of treatment.’ This timeline ensures Salah’s fitness for the upcoming World Cup, despite missing all of Liverpool’s May fixtures.
Liverpool has not yet provided an official update on Salah’s condition, but the diagnosis points to an absence through the final weeks of the Premier League campaign.
Manager Arne Slot’s Assessment
Liverpool manager Arne Slot addressed the injury after witnessing Salah limp off the pitch, noting uncertainty but optimism. ‘We don’t know. That is the best answer I can give,’ Slot said. ‘There might be a chance but we simply don’t know. What we do know is that the season is over in four or five weeks so there are not a lot of games and we have to wait and see.’
Slot praised Salah’s dedication to fitness: ‘Mo has taken such good care of his body all these years that he will have the minimum time required to recover. Let’s hope for the best.’ He added: ‘Another win and another injury. It’s the story of our season. It’s too early to say but we all know Mo and how hard it is for him to leave the pitch. For Mo to leave the pitch, it shows you something but we have to wait and see how bad it is.’
Liverpool’s Premier League Standing
The Reds hold fourth place in the Premier League with 58 points, positioning them strongly for Champions League qualification. They lead sixth-placed Brighton by eight points and face challenging matches against Manchester United and Aston Villa away, plus home games versus Chelsea and Brentford.
