Asus ROG Unveils Opulent 24K Gold-Plated Gaming Mouse
In celebration of its 20th anniversary, the Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand from Asus has introduced a striking new gaming mouse featuring authentic 24K gold-plated detailing. The ROG Harpe Ace Extreme Edition 20, as it is named, sports a sleek black translucent shell that houses its premium embellishments. This high-end peripheral joins a lineup of black and gold themed gaming gear showcased at Computex.
Exceptional Specifications and Design
Weighing in at 82 grams, the ROG Harpe Ace Extreme Edition 20 boasts an impressive array of specifications. It offers a maximum polling rate of 8,000 Hz, available in both wired and wireless configurations. The mouse is equipped with Asus’s proprietary ROG 100M optical micro switches and a cutting-edge 65,000 DPI sensor. These specifications are considered exceptionally high, even when compared to leading competitors. For instance, the Razer Viper V4 Pro, a highly-regarded gaming mouse, also supports an 8,000 Hz polling rate but caps out at 50,000 DPI. While these advanced metrics push the boundaries of performance, it’s acknowledged that polling rates of this magnitude can significantly impact battery life for wireless devices, and the ultra-high DPI may exceed the needs of most users.
The design of this new mouse is based on the ROG Harpe Ace, which is considerably lighter at 48 grams. Asus states that the ergonomic shape of the Extreme Edition 20 was developed in collaboration with professional esports players. The inclusion of gold plating is suspected to contribute to its increased weight compared to its predecessor.
Premium Packaging and Potential Pricing
The ROG Harpe Ace Extreme Edition 20 comes presented in a special display-ready box. Accompanying the mouse are various accessories, including stickers, a charging cable, necessary connectors, and a keychain. Alongside the mouse, Asus has also announced the ROG Azoth Extreme Edition 20, a matching black and gold variant of their ROG Azoth gaming keyboard.
While official pricing and release dates have not been confirmed by Asus, speculative reports suggest the ROG Harpe Ace Extreme Edition 20 could be available starting June 2nd with an estimated retail price of $260. This price point places it significantly above other premium gaming mice, such as the Razer Viper V4 Pro, which retails for approximately $100 less. Efforts to obtain official confirmation from Asus regarding the release and pricing details are ongoing.
Given its commemorative nature and luxurious design, the ROG Harpe Ace Extreme Edition 20 appears to be positioned as a collector’s item rather than a mainstream gaming peripheral. Acquiring such a device would likely require a substantial budget.
