Manager Michael Carrick’s successful turnaround in team form has amplified the importance of strategic summer signings as the squad prepares for a multi-competition challenge.
Key Midfield Target Identified
The midfield has been pinpointed as a crucial area for enhancement. While an early agreement is reportedly in place for Atalanta’s Ederson, the club is actively exploring other midfield options. Among those being monitored is Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, a player generating considerable buzz and expected to feature prominently for England at the upcoming World Cup.
Elliot Anderson: A High-Profile Target
Anderson has impressed throughout the past season, even amidst his team’s fight against relegation. His performances have attracted attention not only from Manchester United but also from rivals Manchester City. Nottingham Forest is understood to be seeking a substantial fee, potentially in the region of £100 million, for the 23-year-old talent.
Reports indicate that United is optimistic about securing Anderson’s signature. Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly prepared to meet the player’s wage expectations, a move that could sway his decision. Forest has already rejected an initial approach from Manchester City, who are considered frontrunners for the midfielder. There is a belief that United can persuade Anderson to opt for Old Trafford over a move to City, especially after the latter’s initial £80 million bid was turned down.
Anderson currently earns approximately £100,000 per week at Forest and is expected to demand a significant salary increase, potentially around 50%, from either Manchester club should a transfer materialize.
