Concerns regarding President Donald Trump’s health have been amplified following his most recent medical examination, during which he consulted with an unprecedented 22 specialists. This extensive evaluation took place at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Extensive Medical Review
A memo dated May 29, compiled by the President’s personal physician, Navy Captain Sean Barbarella, documented the significant number of specialists involved. This figure represents the highest number of medical experts consulted during a presidential physical on record.
In comparison, President Trump underwent a physical examination in April 2025 where he was seen by 14 doctors. Historical records indicate that presidential medical reviews have involved fewer specialists; for instance, then-President George H.W. Bush saw five specialists in 1989, and his son, George W. Bush, consulted with 12 in 2001.
Presidential Medical History
Over the past 14 months, President Trump has made three publicly acknowledged visits to Walter Reed. These included his physical in April 2025, a follow-up examination with a CT scan in October, and the most recent assessment at the end of last month.
While the specific breakdown of specialist involvement was not detailed by the press secretary, the overall conclusion of the recent examination was that the President “remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function.” His vital statistics were recorded at 75 inches tall and 238 pounds, an increase of 14 pounds from the previous year. The report noted a healthy resting heart rate and normal blood pressure. Additionally, the President is reportedly taking two cholesterol medications and aspirin for heart health.
Addressing Health Rumors
Despite the positive medical assessment, there have been recurring discussions about the President’s physical well-being during his second term. President Trump has consistently refuted claims of physical or mental decline, asserting he is in “perfect health,” even in the face of observed bruising, swelling, and instances of apparent memory lapses.
Following his latest appointment, President Trump shared his perspective on Truth Social, reiterating his robust health. He posted, “Just finished my 6 month physical at Walter Reed Military Medical Centre. “Everything checked out PERFECTLY. Thank you to the great Doctors and Staff! Heading back to the White House.”
At 80 years old, President Trump is the oldest individual ever elected to the presidency, surpassing his predecessor, Joe Biden, by approximately five months.
Official Statement on Comprehensive Care
A White House spokesperson commented on the extensive medical consultations, stating, “The involvement of multiple specialists reflects a comprehensive, multidisciplinary evaluation consistent with best practices for executive-level medical care.”
