President Donald Trump announced the successful operation, characterizing Tren de Aragua as “one of the most bloodthirsty terrorist organizations on Planet Earth.” He highlighted his administration’s prior action to designate Tren de Aragua as a Foreign Terrorist Organization early in his term, a move that included deporting individuals and intensifying efforts against cartels.
“Early in my Administration, I delivered on my promise to designate Tren de Aragua as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, deport thousands of evil criminals, and wage war against the Cartels, who have long been waging war against our Citizens, while weak leaders left America helpless and defensive,” the President stated on Truth Social. He further asserted that, under his leadership, such organizations will not find safe haven.
The operation was reportedly coordinated with Venezuelan authorities, a collaboration that facilitated the strike. President Trump expressed gratitude for this cooperation, emphasizing that Tren de Aragua terrorists no longer have a sanctuary.
The President also drew a stark contrast with the policies of his predecessor, Joe Biden, attributing the influx of individuals across the southern border to a weakening of national security. He cited instances of violence, including the deaths of young Americans like Laken Reilly and Jocelyn Nungary, as consequences of what he described as an open border policy that allowed criminal elements to operate with impunity.
“With this action, the United States Military has brought retribution for them, their families, and their loved ones,” President Trump declared, framing the strike as a measure of justice for victims of these criminal networks.
