Singer Sabrina Carpenter Granted Permanent Restraining Order
A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge has issued a permanent restraining order against a man who repeatedly trespassed on singer Sabrina Carpenter’s property. The order mandates that the individual, identified as 31-year-old William Applegate, must remain at least 100 meters away from Carpenter, her sister Sarah, and Sarah’s boyfriend George for the next five years.
Applegate was arrested at Carpenter’s Los Angeles residence on May 23 after arriving uninvited. Law enforcement officers responded to the scene and took him into custody. Disturbingly, Applegate allegedly returned to the property less than 24 hours later, reportedly leaving after being confronted by security personnel.
Allegations of Repeated Trespassing
Court documents indicate that Applegate reappeared at the singer’s home again on May 25, which prompted another police response. Photographs allegedly depicting a man at Carpenter’s front door were reportedly included as evidence in the court filing.
Carpenter, known for her hit song “Espresso,” stated in a sworn declaration that she has never met or communicated with Applegate and has no desire to do so. Her team initially sought protection on May 19, leading to a temporary restraining order being granted earlier this month.
Defendant’s Response and Judge’s Decision
During the hearing to oppose the permanent order, Applegate testified. He argued that the restraining order was not brought about by Carpenter’s own will, but rather by her security team, the Los Angeles Police Department, and her legal counsel, citing what he described as “maligned instructions” from a “military government program.” He further alleged that Carpenter and her family were aware of his presence outside her residence since April and claimed her performances at the Coachella festival were directed at him.
Despite Applegate’s testimony, the judge ultimately ruled in favor of Carpenter, granting the permanent restraining order.
