The tremor occurred at 4:21 AM Mountain Time, with its epicenter located approximately 23 miles from Spearman, Texas. The shaking, however, was widely felt, extending its reach across state borders into Oklahoma and Kansas.

Residents across the affected areas described a startling experience. Many reported their homes trembling unexpectedly in the early morning hours. One individual shared on the social platform X (formerly Twitter) their surprise at their bed vibrating, only to later learn it was due to a magnitude 5.1 earthquake originating about an hour away. Another resident in Spearman, Texas, reported feeling disoriented by the shaking. In Norman, Oklahoma, a resident named Connor Mellace noted experiencing “very light shaking” after receiving an earthquake alert.
