Addison Rae is now a playable character in the popular online game Fortnite, with a new collaboration officially launching today, August 6. The partnership introduces multiple cosmetic items, including character skins, emotes, and accessories, inspired by Rae’s music and personal style.
Addison Rae’s Fortnite Debut
The collaboration was initially teased last month in Fortnite‘s summer trailer, with the full details revealed on August 5. Players can now access two distinct Addison Rae skins, along with a variety of other in-game items. This addition marks another significant entry into Fortnite‘s ‘Icon Series,’ which has previously featured collaborations with numerous artists and cultural figures.
In-Game Items and Aesthetics
The collection features two main outfits for Addison Rae. The ‘Addison Rae Outfit’ is inspired by her ‘Fame Is A Gun’ music video, prominently showcasing her signature pink jacket, top, and skirt. The second outfit, the ‘Famous Addison Rae’ outfit, is designed to reflect her ‘The Fame And Glory’ tour, incorporating music-reactive elements.
Beyond the skins, players can acquire several other themed items:
- Jam Tracks and Emotes: ‘Diet Pepsi’ and ‘Fame Is A Gun’ jam tracks, alongside associated emotes, allow players to express themselves in-game with Addison Rae’s flair.
- Back Blings: Two unique back blings are available: the ‘Turtle-On-Moon’ and ‘Addison’s Sundae’ accessories.
- Pickaxes: The ‘Fame Scepter’ pickaxe, a two-handed item, and the ‘Addison’s Biggest Fan’ pickaxe, which features selectable colors and reactive elements, are also part of the bundle.
These items are priced using Fortnite‘s in-game currency, V-Bucks. Based on previous ‘Icon Series’ releases, the skins are expected to cost 1,500 V-Bucks each. Back blings are typically priced around 400 V-Bucks, pickaxes at approximately 800 V-Bucks, and emotes or jam tracks at 500 V-Bucks.
Addison Rae’s Perspective on the Collaboration
Speaking about her involvement with Fortnite, Addison Rae shared her personal connection to the game. She mentioned playing Fortnite frequently during high school and noted her younger brothers’ enthusiasm for it, highlighting the cultural significance of being featured in the game. Rae expressed her admiration for Fortnite‘s previous collaborations with prominent female artists, including Laufey, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, and Chappell Roan.
“I’ve been a huge fan of everything that they’ve done with a lot of other women in pop music,” Rae stated. “It’s really exciting that they asked me.”
Rae also emphasized the meticulous attention to detail involved in creating her in-game likeness. She explained that the developers focused on accurately representing her creative vision and personal identity within the game. To ensure authenticity, Rae provided numerous detailed selfies to aid the design process.
“There’s so much attention to detail that goes into it,” she elaborated. “They really care about building out every little piece of myself in the game, and making sure it feels accurate and true to my creative ideas. I had sent 10 selfies that were just the most odd pictures of myself, just so that [the skins] could be as accurate as possible.”
Fortnite’s Expanding Icon Series
The inclusion of Addison Rae in Fortnite‘s ‘Icon Series’ continues the game’s trend of integrating popular culture figures into its virtual world. This series aims to celebrate artists, musicians, and influencers by offering players authentic representations and experiences tied to their favorite personalities. The ongoing expansion of the ‘Icon Series’ demonstrates Fortnite‘s commitment to bridging the gap between gaming and mainstream entertainment, allowing fans to interact with and embody cultural icons within the game.
The collaboration offers fans a new way to engage with Addison Rae’s artistry and persona, extending her presence beyond traditional media platforms into the interactive realm of gaming. The detailed cosmetic items and character models reflect a growing trend in the gaming industry where virtual goods and celebrity partnerships play a significant role in player engagement and monetization strategies.
