Corey Jefferys, the founder of the activewear brand Ready Or Not, has secured a modification to his bail conditions, allowing him to legally resume contact with his current girlfriend, Isabella Nieto-Roels. Jefferys faces domestic violence-related charges concerning two former partners. The court’s decision came after Ms. Nieto-Roels, who is protected by an apprehended violence order (AVO), indicated her support for the change.

Court Modifies Bail Conditions for Ready Or Not Founder

In a Sutherland Local Court hearing on Wednesday, a judge granted Jefferys’s request to alter his bail and AVO conditions. The original orders prohibited him from approaching or contacting Ms. Nieto-Roels, including via social media, and mandated he not come within 100 meters of her residence or workplace. The modification allows Jefferys to be in Ms. Nieto-Roels’s company, with the stipulation that they cannot live at the same address.

Police did not oppose the application after Ms. Nieto-Roels was consulted and expressed her agreement with the proposed changes. Jefferys, who is the face of the Ready Or Not clothing label, pleaded not guilty to a charge of stalking or intimidating Ms. Nieto-Roels on August 8. A hearing for this charge is scheduled for March.

Background of Charges and Court Proceedings

Jefferys, 33, was arrested on August 8 and charged with stalking or intimidating Ms. Nieto-Roels, aged 27, between 12:30 pm and 9:15 pm that day in Miranda, a suburb in Sydney’s south. He was initially granted bail with strict conditions, including a prohibition on contact with Ms. Nieto-Roels and a requirement to reside at an address in Cronulla.

In addition to the current charges, Jefferys has pleaded not guilty to two counts of common assault against his former girlfriend, 24-year-old model and influencer Cass Beric. These assault charges, which are related to domestic violence, are also set for a hearing in December. There is no suggestion that Jefferys was involved with Ms. Beric and Ms. Nieto-Roels concurrently.

Jefferys’s Background and Business Ventures

Ready Or Not, Jefferys’s streetwear label, boasts a significant presence on TikTok with nearly 240,000 followers. The brand celebrated its third anniversary in December at a Sydney venue, an event attended by various media and social personalities. Jefferys has spoken publicly about his past, detailing a childhood raised by a single mother in public housing with a father who had a history of incarceration.

He has positioned himself as a role model for young men from challenging backgrounds, emphasizing his journey away from partying and drugs four years prior. Jefferys stated his intention to use his public platform to advocate for men’s mental health and inspire positive change.

In January, Jefferys told a media outlet that he aimed to demonstrate to others facing similar circumstances that making the right choices could lead to significant life improvements. He also mentioned that he had been subjected to online harassment following the allegations and was considering defamation action, citing concerns for his reputation as a single father.

Previous Legal Matters

Court records indicate that Jefferys has previously received sentences for drug offenses. In March 2022, he was convicted and sentenced to a 15-month community correction order for supplying drugs, dealing with the proceeds of crime (under $100,000), and possessing a restricted substance. This order included requirements for ongoing drug and alcohol counseling and mental health treatment.

Five months later, he was given an 18-month conditional release order without conviction for driving with an illicit drug in his system. Furthermore, in September 2020, Jefferys pleaded guilty to possessing a prescribed restricted substance and was placed on a two-year conditional release order, also without a conviction.

Ready Or Not Brand Philosophy

The Ready Or Not brand is described on its website as offering “the ultimate in high-quality and elite leisurewear, blending style, comfort, and performance in every piece.” Jefferys has attributed the brand’s success, in part, to his sobriety, stating that his business might not have survived its first year if he had continued his previous lifestyle. He highlighted the demanding nature of running a business, requiring 12-plus-hour days and constant focus.

Jefferys has consistently emphasized his commitment to his role as a father, identifying his son, Luca, as his primary priority above his business endeavors. He expressed a strong desire to be a positive role model for his son, shaped by his own experiences of having an absent parent.

The court’s decision to modify Jefferys’s bail and AVO conditions, allowing contact with Ms. Nieto-Roels, signifies a shift in his legal obligations while he awaits trial for the stalking and domestic violence charges.
