An armed man holding a two-year-old toddler has died after he was shot in a standoff with sheriff’s deputies Thursday in Paramount.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Division mentioned deputies from its Lakewood station responded to a name relating to a person probably armed with a gun. They arrived on the location on the 8000 block of Alhambra Avenue, the place they encountered a person with a gun in a single hand and the toddler within the different.
The division mentioned deputies spent 25 minutes trying to barter with the person to launch the toddler and relinquish the firearm.
The person refused to conform and pointed the handgun at deputies. The deputies responded with gunfire, hanging the person. His identification has not been launched.
Deputies safely eliminated the toddler from the scene. The boy, who was the person’s son, in accordance with investigators, was not harmed.
The person obtained medical assist on the scene. The Los Angeles County Hearth Division transported him to a hospital the place he was later pronounced useless.
The investigation stays ongoing.
