Lady Eliza Spencer and Lady Amelia Spencer, the 33-year-old twin nieces of Princess Diana, turned heads at the 68th Vienna Opera Ball. The daughters of Charles Spencer, ninth Earl Spencer, and Victoria Aitken, arrived in glamorous gowns and striking jewelry, embodying British aristocracy at the prestigious event in Austria’s capital.
Stunning Red Carpet Looks
Lady Eliza exuded elegance in a gold dress paired with white fashion gloves and a glossy nude lip. She accessorized with a blue diamond necklace, sparkling earrings, and a floral ring, creating a sophisticated sparkle.
Lady Amelia shone in a sparkling silver gown complemented by black fashion gloves. She added vibrancy with an emerald green silver jeweled choker and matching earrings. Both sisters styled their hair in sleek updos with a middle parting, smiling confidently on the red carpet.
The Legacy of the Vienna Opera Ball
Dating back to 1814, the Vienna Opera Ball transforms the State Opera’s auditorium into a grand ballroom for one night. Over 5,000 guests, including Austrian government officials and celebrities, gather for music, dance, and splendor. Organizers spend 30 hours setting up and 21 hours dismantling, while 144 young couples aged 17 to 24 rehearse extensively.
The twins attended as guests in the STYLE UP YOUR LIFE! box, hosted by Adi Weiss and Michael Lameraner. They arrived at the Adi Weiss reception beforehand.
Excitement from the Spencer Twins
Prior to the event, the sisters expressed their thrill: “The Vienna Opera Ball is something very special for us. It uniquely combines culture, history, and fashion. It is a great honour to be part of this tradition, and we are very much looking forward to an unforgettable evening in Vienna.”
Lady Amelia, with over 120,000 Instagram followers, shared behind-the-scenes glimpses, calling the night “pure magic.”
Celebrity Attendees
Other notables included Hollywood actress Sharon Stone and American star Fran Drescher. English model Iris Law appeared in an all-black ensemble, posing with Swarovski’s Creative Director Giovanna Battaglia Engelbrecht.
Eliza’s Recent Engagement Celebrations
The appearance follows Lady Eliza’s engagement party in Cape Town, where she grew up with her siblings. She celebrated her betrothal to tech executive Channing Millerd, 34, at a rooftop gathering for 50 close loved ones.
Channing proposed during a sunset dinner in Santorini last July after nearly a decade together. Lady Eliza, speaking to Tatler, recalled: “I laughed and I cried. I don’t know how he pulled it all off, but it was so special. He did the most amazing job – above and beyond. I couldn’t have dreamt of such a beautiful setting.” She described it as a “dream come true.”
Her 2.5-carat pear-shaped diamond ring, sourced from South Africa, honors her roots. At the party, Eliza wore a custom white floral appliqué dress by Galia Lahav with satin heels. Sister Lady Kitty Spencer chose a colorful printed Dolce & Gabbana co-ord set.
Charles Spencer, married to Victoria from 1989 to 1997, did not attend. The family relocated to Cape Town post-divorce, away from publicity, as Princess Diana’s death coincided with proceedings. Sources close to the family note a cooled relationship since his 2011 marriage to Karen, with Charles absent from Kitty’s 2021 wedding and Amelia’s 2023 ceremony, and no public acknowledgment of Eliza’s engagement.
