A new winter storm approaches much of eastern Newfoundland, set to begin Tuesday night and continue through Wednesday night.
Snow Accumulation and Affected Areas
Forecasters predict 15 to 25 centimetres of snow across the Avalon Peninsula, Bonavista Bay, Trinity Bay, Placentia Bay, and extending west to Gambo, Hare Bay, and St. Brendan’s.
Strong Winds Expected
Coastal areas face gusts up to 100 km/h, while northwesterly winds throughout the region could reach 60 to 80 km/h.
Weather Alerts and Conditions
Environment Canada has issued special weather statements for much of eastern Newfoundland as residents brace for heavy snow and gusty winds. The snow will be wet and heavy, with temperatures near freezing.
Travelers should adjust plans due to anticipated slippery roads and difficult driving conditions from snow buildup.
