A couple of Hilary Duff superfans got engaged during her Las Vegas concert, describing the singer’s heartfelt embrace as a memory they will “carry in our hearts forever.”
The Magical Proposal Moment
Christopher Hernandez proposed to his partner Ivan Arturo last Friday at The Venetian’s Voltaire venue. The pair were invited onstage to perform choreography to Duff’s 2007 hit “With Love.”
Duff handed her microphone to Hernandez, stepping aside with a subtle smile. As Hernandez knelt and asked, “Will you marry me?” Arturo accepted amid cheers from the crowd. Confetti rained down, and Duff rushed to hug the newly engaged couple.
“It didn’t feel rushed or staged — it felt real. That hug, filled with love and joy, is something we’ll carry in our hearts forever,” Hernandez shared.
The adrenaline-fueled moment left them unable to recall Duff’s exact words, but her genuine excitement and warmth stood out. “Her reaction was beautiful. She hugged us, congratulated us, and shared in our joy,” Hernandez added.
Planning the Surprise
Hernandez coordinated the proposal in the days before the show. After initial unsuccessful attempts to contact Duff’s team, a friend’s connection provided a breakthrough.
“They said it would be amazing if it happened during the choreography of ‘With Love’ and that they would mention it to Hilary,” Hernandez recalled. Though no final confirmation came, he committed to proposing that night.
Just before entering the venue, they spotted the team member outside, who confirmed the stage invitation. “At that moment, I knew it was really happening — even better than I had imagined,” Hernandez said.
A Bond Built on Duff Fandom
Hernandez and Arturo met seven years ago on Tinder, bonding instantly over their mutual admiration for Duff, the star of Lizzie McGuire.
“One of the first things we discovered we had in common was that we were both huge Hilary Duff fans,” Hernandez explained. “We would spend hours talking about our favorite Hilary movies, our favorite songs, and the memories tied to her music growing up.”
This shared passion confirmed their perfect match, making Duff’s concert the ideal spot to begin their next chapter together.
