The Lakers unveiled their statue for franchise legend Riley on Sunday afternoon forward of their house sport towards the Celtics, their longtime rival.
Riley, who was the Lakers’ head coach for 9 seasons (1981-90) through the “Showtime” period, led the franchise to 4 NBA championships (1982, ’85, ’87, ’88), with two of these titles coming towards the Celtics.
Riley made it clear throughout his speech earlier than the statue was unveiled that his skilled competitiveness towards the Celtics hasn’t modified.
