Norwegian police reported on Sunday an explosion close to the U.S. Embassy within the capital Oslo, however stated there have been no casualties.

The explosion occurred round 1 a.m. native time, Oslo police stated in an announcement, including that they had no details about the blast’s trigger or who was behind it.

“A loud bang/explosion was reported on the scene,” Oslo police stated. 

Public broadcaster NRK quoted police incident commander Michael Delmer saying the blast hit the doorway of the embassy’s consular part.

“At round 1 a.m. we acquired a number of studies of an explosion. We arrived shortly afterward and confirmed that there had been an explosion that hit the US embassy,” he informed NRK.

“There may be minor harm,” he stated.

“We’re not going to touch upon something associated to the kind of harm, what it’s that has exploded and related particulars, past the truth that there was an explosion” as a result of “it is extremely early within the investigation,” he stated.

The police stated it was in touch with the embassy in regards to the incident and that a lot of sources had been on web site.

Residents close to the embassy stated they heard a loud blast. A 16-year-old recognized solely as Edvard informed TV2 that he was watching tv when he heard it.

“My mom and I first thought it got here from our home so we regarded round somewhat, however then we noticed the flashing lights outdoors the window and a ton of police,” he stated. “…There have been police canine and drones and police with automated weapons and helicopters within the air.”

However police gave no indication the incident close to the embassy in Oslo was linked to the battle.
