Adrian Grenier voices enthusiasm for a potential Entourage reboot while sharing his disappointment over exclusion from The Devil Wears Prada sequel.
Excitement and Reservations for Entourage Revival
The 49-year-old actor, who portrayed rising star Vincent Chase in the HBO series, expresses eagerness to return. “I would love to do the show again, obviously,” Grenier states. Yet, he remains torn, noting the series’ iconic status. “It’s an iconic show that defined an era,” he explains. “I don’t know how we would do that today, because we’d have to address a lot of things that are current.”
Grenier highlights the challenge of recapturing the original vibe. “It’s a time and a moment and a vibe that I don’t think you can replicate,” he adds. Entourage premiered on HBO in 2004, spanning eight seasons until its 2011 finale. The cast included Kevin Connolly as Eric Murphy, Jerry Ferrara as Turtle, Jeremy Piven as Ari Gold, and Kevin Dillon as Johnny ‘Drama’ Chase. Inspired by Mark Wahlberg’s career, the show earned multiple Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe awards.
Grenier sees potential in updating the characters for today. “The characters are still relevant, and the way they would deal with modernity is interesting,” he says. He envisions humor, like Drama as an AI avatar. “Yeah, I want to do it,” he affirms. “If the fans demand it, we have to do it.” Practical hurdles remain, however. “We need the script and we need the money,” Grenier notes. “That’s just the biz.”
Disappointment Over Devil Wears Prada Sequel
Grenier also addresses his absence from the upcoming The Devil Wears Prada 2, starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. In the original 2006 film, he played Nate Cooper, boyfriend to Hathaway’s Andy Sachs. The recent trailer reveals Andy with a new love interest.
“Obviously, it was a disappointment that I didn’t get the call to be in the sequel,” Grenier admits. He attributes the snub to backlash against Nate’s actions. “There’s some backlash with Nate, the character, so that might have something to do with it.” Still optimistic, he eyes future opportunities. “That just leaves room for a spinoff,” he suggests. “Either way, it leaves room for a beautiful spinoff in which Nate has his own film.”
“We’re all fans of the movie, whether or not we’re in it,” Grenier concludes.
