Anthony Joshua receives targeted treatment on his ribs as he progresses through physical rehabilitation several months following a devastating car crash in Nigeria.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The heavyweight boxer survived the fatal collision on December 29, which occurred just ten days after his victory over Jake Paul in Miami. The accident claimed the lives of two close associates: Kevin Latif Ayodele, Joshua’s childhood friend and personal trainer known as “Latz,” and Sina Ghami, his longtime recovery therapist.
Joshua, 36, returned home shortly after the crash to attend the funerals of his friends. He recently shared footage of his rib therapy session on Snapchat, captioning it: “Rehabilitation protocol. When you go thru certain things, you realise that you are stronger than you think you are.”
Path to Boxing Return
Prior to the incident, Joshua had defeated Paul, 29, in six rounds and eyed a March bout. The crash cast uncertainty over his career, but promoter Eddie Hearn expresses confidence in a comeback to honor his late friends.
A summer return appears probable, aligning with Tyson Fury’s planned April fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov, 37, following his retirement hiatus. Hearn stated in February: “Originally, the plan with AJ was for him to fight in March and then fight Tyson Fury in August. That’s not happening.
“He’s not fighting Tyson Fury next. He’s going to come back I believe late summer, but physically he’s not yet in a position to return to camp.
“I’m planning, but he’s just resting and preparing. So for me I’m looking at options to get him back in the ring in July time.
“But we’ll only know if that’s a real possibility when he returns to camp, which will hopefully be in the next couple of weeks or a month.”
