Authorities have arrested a suspect linked to a deadly house fire in Winnipeg’s West End that killed two women and hospitalized five others.
Incident Details
Firefighters responded to a two-storey home on Agnes Street, between St. Matthews and Ellice avenues, just before 10 a.m. The blaze quickly overwhelmed the structure, prompting an immediate evacuation and medical response.
Victim Update
An 18-year-old woman and a 48-year-old woman arrived at the hospital in critical condition but were later pronounced dead. One additional victim upgraded from critical to stable condition, while two others remain hospitalized in stable condition.
Investigation Progress
The police major crimes unit launched an arson probe right away. Officials plan a news conference at 1 p.m. to provide further updates on the arrest and ongoing inquiry.
