Aubrey Plaza Shines at Kevin Screening
Aubrey Plaza, 41, cradles her baby bump during her first red carpet appearance since announcing her pregnancy. She attended the screening of her animated series Kevin at Metrograph in New York City on Thursday.
The actress beams in a white mini-dress adorned with blue floral patterns and pockets, paired with white high-heel shoes and earrings. Her brown hair falls in a parted style. Plaza poses alongside collaborators Whoopi Goldberg and Quinta Brunson at the event.
About the Series Kevin
Plaza co-created the adult-oriented animated series with Joe Wengert and Dan Murphy. It follows a lifelong housecat who rejects life with humans. The voice cast includes Amy Sedaris, Cary Elwes, Jason Schwartzman, Tig Notaro, John Waters, and Patti LuPone.
Plaza holds a studded figurine of the character Kevin during the debut.
Pregnancy Reveal on Podcast
Plaza shares her motherhood news on the upcoming Smartless podcast with hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes. “Well, there’s a baby inside of me. No, I said there’s a baby inside of me right now,” she reveals, prompting excitement from the hosts.
She describes a recent doctor’s visit: “Today was a big day. I went to the doctor’s today, and my dog also went to the doctor’s. And both of us — my dog’s getting a scan right now. I got a scan earlier. I’m not kidding. She had to get an ultrasound on her stomach. And then I got an ultrasound on my stomach, and there is a baby in there.”
When asked if she is excited, Plaza responds: “I am. Yeah. I’ve always wanted … to see what that’s all about, you know? It just seems so interesting, that whole thing.”
The baby, due in the fall, marks a joyful surprise after an emotional year. Plaza expects the child with partner Christopher Abbott, 40. The couple feels very blessed.

Plaza and Abbott celebrate at the afterparty for the Broadway revival of Death of a Salesman at Katz’s Deli in New York City. They share a cozy moment, with Plaza cuddling up to him.
The pair attended Khaite’s Fall/Winter 2026 show during New York Fashion Week on February 14, sitting front row with Elizabeth Debicki and Gemma Chan.

Plaza’s Personal Journey
Plaza’s pregnancy follows the suicide of her estranged husband, Jeff Baena, on January 3, 2025. The couple separated in September 2024 after marital difficulties. Baena attended therapy following a welfare check prompted by concerning remarks in October 2024.
An autopsy confirms no drugs or alcohol in his system. Plaza last spoke to him that morning via text. A dog walker discovered his body after noticing loud music from the home.
They met in 2011 at a game night Baena hosted, dated soon after, and married secretly in 2020. Baena directed Life After Beth (starring Plaza), Joshy, The Little Hours, and Spin Me Round.
Plaza’s first public outing post-tragedy was introducing Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard at Saturday Night Live‘s 50th anniversary special in February 2025, wearing a tie-dye shirt as a subtle tribute.

From sketch comedy in the mid-2000s, Plaza broke out as April Ludgate in NBC’s Parks and Recreation. Film roles include Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Safety Not Guaranteed, Ingrid Goes West, Happiest Season, Emily the Criminal, and My Old Ass. She appeared in Legion and The White Lotus Season 2.
