Neil Newbon Cast in Highly Anticipated Horror Game Sequel
Fans of the critically acclaimed Baldur’s Gate 3 have reason to celebrate as actor Neil Newbon, recognized for his BAFTA-nominated performance as Astarion, has been confirmed for a significant role in the upcoming horror title, Until Dawn 2. This marks a major new gaming venture for the British actor, who boasts a prior history in the industry, including appearances in Detroit: Become Human and Resident Evil Village.
Newbon’s involvement was unveiled during a recent PlayStation: State of Play presentation, where the first trailer for Until Dawn 2 debuted. Despite adopting an American accent in the trailer, the actor’s distinctive presence was readily apparent to viewers.
A Cult Classic Returns with a New Chapter
The original Until Dawn, released in 2015, achieved cult classic status, and a remake was recently launched to commemorate its tenth anniversary. The forthcoming sequel promises a fresh narrative experience, immersing a new ensemble of characters in a perilous horror scenario. Early indications suggest a slasher-themed plot unfolding on a remote island.
Details regarding Newbon’s character are scarce, but his portrayal in the trailer suggests an outsider within the main group, adding an element of intrigue to his role. The dynamic between established friendships and a wildcard character like Newbon’s could offer compelling narrative possibilities.
Standalone Story, Familiar Choices
According to official PlayStation communications, Until Dawn 2 will operate as a standalone experience. It will feature an entirely new cast, a fresh environment to explore, and is set to deliver the signature modern horror, packed with suspense, emotional depth, and impactful player choices that define the series. The core gameplay mechanic of decisions shaping the narrative and determining character fates remains central to the sequel.
The game’s protagonists are described as a crew of ghost hunters leading a popular paranormal channel called “Dead True.” Ironically, these individuals have yet to encounter genuine supernatural phenomena, with their previous scares reportedly being staged. However, their fabricated reputation will be put to the ultimate test when they confront actual horrors, forcing them to live up to their on-screen persona to survive until dawn.
New Developers at the Helm
Development of Until Dawn 2 is being handled by Firesprite, a studio owned by PlayStation. This means that Supermassive Games, the original creators of Until Dawn, are not the lead developers for this sequel.
Until Dawn 2 is slated for release in 2027. Further updates and information will be provided as they become available.
