A devastating incident has occurred at a Spanish beach, resulting in the death of a 25-year-old British tourist. The man reportedly suffered cardiac arrest after colliding with rocks in the sea.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that two companions of the deceased raised the alarm after the man struck the rocks and became unconscious. Local residents swiftly pulled him from the water as emergency services were en route. Despite extensive resuscitation efforts by health professionals upon their arrival, the young man could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tragedy unfolded yesterday afternoon, shortly after 4 p.m., at the secluded Percheles Beach. This location, situated on the Costa Calida in Mazarron, within the southeastern Spanish region of Murcia, is accessible via an unpaved road. The nearest town is Canada de Gallego.
While the nationality of the deceased has not been officially confirmed by authorities, it has been established that the two individuals who alerted rescuers were British nationals.
Official Statement on the Incident
A spokesperson for a regional government-run emergency response coordination center provided details of the event. “We received several emergency calls around 4:05 p.m. yesterday afternoon reporting difficulties in getting a swimmer out of the water at Percheles Beach in Canada de Gallego, part of the municipality of Mazarron,” the spokesperson stated.
“According to the callers, two young English men reported that their companion had struck the rocks and was unconscious in the water.”
Emergency services, including the Civil Guard, Mazarron Local Police, Mazarron Civil Protection, firefighters, and an ambulance from the 061 Emergency and Urgent Healthcare Service, were immediately dispatched.
Rescue Efforts and Confirmation of Death
Soon after the initial dispatch, the Civil Guard reported that several individuals had managed to bring the unconscious swimmer ashore. Following guidance from a nurse, those who performed the rescue initiated CPR. This life-saving effort was continued by the Civil Guard and Mazarron Local Police, who utilized specialized resuscitation equipment until the arrival of medical responders.
A physician on site confirmed the death of the 25-year-old.
Ongoing Investigations and Community Reaction
Following the confirmation of death, Civil Protection workers cordoned off the area where the man’s body was located before its removal. An autopsy is expected to be conducted in the coming days.
