A 44-year-old Calgary man faces multiple charges after police caught him attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a vehicle in Chestermere.
Incident Details
On March 25, Chestermere RCMP officers conducted early-morning proactive patrols near Kinniburgh Bay and spotted suspicious activity under a parked gold Honda CR-V. An officer approached and found the suspect using a saw to remove the catalytic converter. A second individual served as a lookout but fled when the arrest began.
Police deployed a dog unit to track the second suspect, who remains at large.
Charges and Court Appearance
Authorities charged the Calgary man with possession of break-in instruments, mischief to a vehicle under $5,000, and four counts of possession of property obtained by crime valued at $5,000 or less. He was released on conditions and must appear in court on June 2.

“This is an excellent example of proactive police patrol leading to stop the property crime in process, the safe apprehension of the suspect and the recovery of stolen property,” stated Chestermere RCMP Staff Sgt. Kathy Klassen. “Our members remain committed to keeping our roads and community safe through diligent patrols and rapid response.”
