On February 1, 2026, the Department of Justice unveiled the largest release of Jeffrey Epstein files yet, comprising over 3 million pages of documents along with thousands of videos and images. These materials provide fresh insights into the late financier’s connections with high-profile individuals such as Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. The files also feature numerous unverified tips submitted to authorities.
Connections to Former President Trump
Investigators compiled a summary last summer detailing more than a dozen public tips linking Trump and Epstein, based on Department of Justice emails. The summary references unverified allegations of sexual abuse involving the two men, though no supporting evidence appears in the released materials. Trump has consistently denied any misconduct related to Epstein.
The White House, responding to inquiries, pointed to a Justice Department statement noting that the documents might contain fabricated images, files, or videos. Many other records mentioning Trump consist of news clippings or emails that simply reference him.
Allegations Involving Bill Gates
Emails from 2013 show Epstein drafting notes about Gates, claiming involvement in extramarital affairs. A spokesperson for Gates dismissed these claims as “absolutely absurd and completely false.” One message alleges Epstein assisted Gates in obtaining drugs to handle repercussions from encounters with Russian women and arranged meetings with married individuals.
These writings followed a failed effort by Epstein to arrange a partnership between the Gates Foundation and JPMorgan Chase, which would have provided Epstein substantial financial benefits.
Howard Lutnick’s Planned Island Visit
Records indicate that Lutnick, now serving as U.S. Commerce Secretary, arranged a trip to Epstein’s private island in 2012, despite his prior statements of ending contact around 2005. When contacted, Lutnick declined to discuss the matter, stating he had not reviewed the new files and emphasizing, “I spent zero time with him,” before ending the call.
Documents confirm the visit was scheduled for December 23, 2012. The following day, Epstein’s assistant relayed a message from Epstein to Lutnick: “Nice seeing you.”
Richard Branson’s Correspondence
A 2013 email exchange between British billionaire Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, and Epstein reveals a friendly rapport centered partly on their mutual interest in women. On September 11, 2013, Branson wrote, “It was really nice seeing you yesterday,” adding, “Any time you’re in the area would love to see you. As long as you bring your harem!”
A Virgin Group representative clarified that the email came after Branson hosted Epstein at a business gathering on Branson’s private island in the British Virgin Islands. Epstein arrived with three adult women, whom he called his “harem,” but they did not participate in the meeting. The statement noted, “Any contact Richard and Joan Branson had with Epstein took place on only a few occasions more than 12 years ago, and was limited to group or business settings.” Branson views Epstein’s actions as “abhorrent” and supports justice for his victims.
Elon Musk’s Communications
Between 2012 and 2014, Epstein and Musk traded several messages coordinating potential meetings in Florida or the Caribbean. On September 25, 2012, Epstein invited Musk: “If you find some time, come visit me on my island in the Caribbean… bring your friend or friends.” Musk responded, “Sounds good, will try to make it.”
Musk has repeatedly denied visiting the island. In a recent social media post, he stated, “I had very little correspondence with Epstein and declined repeated invitations to go to his island or fly on his ‘Lolita Express,’ but was well aware that some email correspondence with him could be misinterpreted and used by detractors to smear my name.” Emails indicate Musk ultimately canceled planned meetups.
Steve Tisch’s Exchanges
Throughout 2013, Epstein and Steve Tisch, co-owner of the New York Giants, exchanged messages where Epstein appeared to introduce Tisch to women of specific backgrounds, using crude descriptions of their appearances. Tisch occasionally inquired using slang about whether the women were sex workers.
In an April 2013 exchange, Epstein requested Tisch’s phone number to avoid a written record. Tisch stated, “We had a brief association where we exchanged emails about adult women, and in addition, we discussed movies, philanthropy and investments. I did not take him up on any of his invitations and never went to his island. As we all know now, he was a terrible person and someone I deeply regret associating with.”
Prince Andrew’s Interactions
In 2010, Epstein wrote to Prince Andrew, “I have a friend I think you might enjoy having dinner with,” later describing her as a 26-year-old Russian woman who was “clever, beautiful and trustworthy.” Andrew replied that he would be “delighted” to meet her and followed up, asking, “What have you told her about me and have you given her my email as well?”
This correspondence highlights the extent of their longstanding association. The prince, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, lost his royal titles last October amid revelations of his ties to Epstein. He has denied accusations from Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who claimed Epstein trafficked her to him around 2001 for multiple sexual encounters, and any wrongdoing in their friendship.
Sergey Brin’s Visits and Contacts
Sergey Brin, Google co-founder and one of the world’s wealthiest individuals, visited Epstein’s island near St. Thomas, planned dinners at Epstein’s New York residence, and communicated with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s convicted associate. In an April 2003 email, Maxwell told Brin, “Dinners at Jeffrey’s are always happily casual and relaxed. Look forward to seeing you.”
Epstein facilitated introductions between Brin and JPMorgan executives, aiding the bank’s client relationship with him. Accuser Sarah Ransome testified in 2024 that she encountered Brin and his then-fiancée Anne Wojcicki on the island. A former Epstein boat captain reported seeing Brin there multiple times. Brin and Wojcicki did not respond to requests for comment.
