Los Angeles County firefighters had been responding to a fuel line explosion in Castaic on Saturday, which prompted California Freeway Patrol to shut a portion of the 5 Freeway and the fireplace division to order residents to shelter in place.

Los Angeles County Hearth Division obtained a number of studies of the explosion round 4:20 p.m. close to Ridge Route Street and Pine Crest Place, simply south of Northlake Hills Elementary Faculty.
Shortly after that, L.A. County Hearth Division Station 149, a mile down the street, reported smelling fuel. Kight mentioned he may odor the fuel from “20 minutes out.”
The CHP indefinitely closed all lanes of the 5 Freeway at 5:12 p.m. On the social platform X, the CHP mentioned all northbound site visitors can be diverted to State Route 126, and all southbound site visitors to State Route 138.
Site visitors alongside the 5 has remained at a close to standstill for greater than 90 minutes.
A landslide in Castaic has ruptured an underground fuel line close to Northlake Hills Elementary.

The shelter in place order, issued at 5:40 p.m., spans a lot of Castaic and advises residents to shut all doorways, home windows and vents, and shut off HVAC methods.
By 6 p.m., the fuel firm had shut off either side of the damaged fuel line, however firefighters and a hazmat job drive continued to reply a residual leak.
The reason for the explosion is unknown.
