Apple CarPlay now supports AI chatbots, with Grok positioned as the next major addition arriving shortly.
Grok Voice Mode Prepares for CarPlay Debut
The most recent Grok app for iPhone features a dedicated placeholder for Apple CarPlay integration. While the functionality remains inactive at launch, the placeholder displays a clear message: “Grok Voice mode coming soon to CarPlay.” This confirms xAI’s active development to extend its AI chatbot to Apple’s in-car platform.
Grok already integrates seamlessly as a built-in feature in Tesla vehicles. The new CarPlay support extends this advanced AI experience to a wide array of other vehicles on the road.
Competitive Landscape in CarPlay AI
Grok Voice mode will join established players like ChatGPT and Perplexity, enhancing voice interactions for drivers. Google shows no immediate plans for Gemini on CarPlay, though its models power the revamped Siri in iOS 27, set for release later this year.
Apple anticipates rolling out a standalone Siri app, expected to incorporate CarPlay compatibility as well.
