Senate Democrats stroll out in solidarity

Democrats broke quorum and left the state Aug. 3 and flew to Illinois. Some Democrats additionally traveled to New York, Massachusetts, and California.

In an effort to indicate solidarity, 9 of the 11 Democrats within the Texas Senate walked out of their session Tuesday simply because the Senate was going to vote on the brand new congressional maps.

Republicans share frustration over Democrats’ motion

Consultant Jared Patterson, R-Frisco, blasted Home Democrats and stated it is Democratic states which have gerrymandered their Congressional seats.

“What Texas is doing on redistricting is a response in what is going on on in these different states. So, we’ve to make up for the gerrymandering in these different states with stronger Republican illustration in Texas. This can be a majority Republican state,” stated Patterson.

However Senator Nathan Johnson, D-Dallas, rejected that.

“Nationwide, each state gerrymanders, however Democrats do not do it mid-decade. The Texas Home Democratic Caucus Chairman, Consultant Gene Wu, of Houston, despatched a press release early Tuesday afternoon: “We stated we’d defeat Abbott’s first corrupt particular session, and that is precisely what we’re doing.
