Newcastle United Injury Updates
Eddie Howe, Newcastle United’s manager, firmly dismisses speculation surrounding Anthony Gordon’s fitness. The England winger misses training due to a hip issue and will sit out Saturday’s match against Arsenal.
A recent scan confirms the injury, and Howe addresses doubts directly: “Anthony Gordon is injured, 100 per cent. So it’s a non-question.”
Howe provides further details: “He won’t make the game. He hasn’t trained this week. It’s not a serious injury, but not in time for this game. Hopefully for the next game (Brighton at home on May 2).”
Tino Livramento remains sidelined with a thigh injury and faces uncertainty for the rest of the season. Captain Bruno Guimaraes, back after two months out, trained fully this week and could feature soon.
Howe praises Guimaraes: “He’s had a full week of training and he’s trained really well. I’ve been very pleased with him. It’s been tough for him… He’s such an important player for us on so many levels.”
Liverpool Goalkeeper Crisis and Forward Injury
Arne Slot, Liverpool’s head coach, prioritizes Alisson Becker’s recovery from a hamstring injury, his second this season. The Brazilian, sidelined over a month, nears a return despite transfer rumors.
Slot ignores speculation: “I am only focused on the short-term future and that is getting him back into goal as soon as possible… All these rumours that are out there… we don’t react to.”
With Giorgi Mamardashvili out due to a leg gash from the Merseyside derby, Freddie Woodman prepares for his full Premier League debut for Liverpool.
Slot adds on Hugo Ekitike’s Achilles injury from a match against Paris Saint-Germain: “The surgery went well. That is the first and important step he had to make. It is going to take a long time and then it all depends on how rehab goes.”
