Innis & Gunn, the Scottish brewery recently rescued through a multi-million-pound deal, has announced the closure of all its locations and the elimination of 100 jobs. The decision affects three taprooms and the main brewery, impacting most employees.
Challenges Lead to Shutdown
Administrators explained that the company, like many in the sector, grappled with declining consumer spending and escalating cost pressures. These factors rendered continued operations unsustainable.
“It is with deep regret that redundancies will need to be made,” the administrators stated. “The Administrators would like to thank all the employees of the Companies for their hard work. We will continue to support those affected at this difficult time. A small number of employees have been retained to support the orderly closure of the brewery business and the taprooms.”
Rescue Deal by C&C Group
C&C Group, an Irish drinks company, acquired the business in the rescue deal. Roger White, CEO of C&C Group, commented: “We have worked with Innis & Gunn for many years and whilst it’s under difficult circumstances, we are delighted to bring the brand fully into our portfolio.”
The closures include taprooms in Glasgow and Edinburgh, as well as the brewery in Perth.
