Daytime Talk Show to Conclude in 2026
Kelly Clarkson announced Monday that her Emmy Award-winning daytime talk show will conclude in fall 2026 after seven seasons. The singer shared the unexpected news through an Instagram post featuring text on a vibrant pink background.
Focus on Family Priorities
In her statement, Clarkson revealed her decision stems from wanting to prioritize her children following the passing of her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock in August 2025 after a battle with melanoma. “This wasn’t an easy decision, but stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to focus on my kids,” she wrote, referencing her 11-year-old daughter River and 9-year-old son Remington.
Gratitude and Future Plans
The performer expressed deep appreciation for her team: “I’ve been fortunate to work with outstanding people across seven incredible seasons. I’ll remain grateful to our amazing crew, guests, and NBC for their partnership.” Clarkson clarified this isn’t a permanent departure: “I’ll continue making music, performing occasionally, and you might still see me on The Voice. You never know where I’ll appear next.”
Industry Support and Show History
Several entertainment figures immediately voiced support, including Kerry Washington who commented “Sending love and gratitude” and comedian Fortune Feimster who praised Clarkson’s hosting skills. The talk show premiered in September 2019, originally filming in Los Angeles before relocating to New York in October 2023.
Challenging Final Seasons
The show faced disruptions during its final year when Clarkson took multiple leaves of absence in March 2025. Notable substitutes included Simu Liu, Wanda Sykes, and Brooke Shields. The host returned briefly on March 20 to celebrate the program’s 1,000th episode without addressing her absence. Clarkson later canceled her Las Vegas residency days before Blackstock’s passing, stating at the time: “I need to be fully present for my children during this difficult period.”
