Kiki Shepard, the longtime co-host of the iconic Showtime at the Apollo, has passed away at age 74 following a massive heart attack in Los Angeles on Monday.
Her representative, LaShirl Smith, described the event as completely unexpected.
Career on Showtime at the Apollo
Shepard became a familiar face in homes across America during her 15-year run on Showtime at the Apollo from 1987 to 2002. Alongside Steve Harvey, she shared the stage at the legendary Harlem theater, helping propel the careers of numerous up-and-coming artists.
Television Appearances Beyond Apollo
Shepard’s television work extended far beyond the Apollo. She guest-starred on popular series including NYPD Blue, Grey’s Anatomy, Everybody Hates Chris, A Different World, and Baywatch during the 1990s and later.
