Lucy Beaumont, the 42-year-old Celebrity Traitors star, has grown more protective of her relationship with sound engineer Martin Wallace amid engagement rumors following her divorce from comedian Jon Richardson.
Amicable Divorce Announcement
Beaumont and Richardson, married for nine years, announced their separation in April 2024. The couple, who share a daughter, described the decision as joint and amicable in a joint statement: “After nine years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated. We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.” They emphasized prioritizing their daughter’s well-being during the transition.
New Relationship Sparks Engagement Speculation
Sources close to the couple confirm Beaumont and Wallace now live together, enjoying a quiet life away from the spotlight. “Lucy is really happy with Martin. They live a quiet life together when she’s not on TV. They are often spotted grabbing coffee in their local area or going for romantic walks,” insiders note. The pair drew attention in August 2025 when Beaumont appeared publicly wearing a sparkling new engagement ring.
Wallace, a longtime friend of Richardson, first worked with him on the 2014 stand-up tour Jon Richardson Live: Nidiot. An experienced sound technician from Didsbury, Manchester, he has collaborated with comedians like Rob Beckett and Dara Ó Briain, as well as rock bands. He runs a recording studio in a converted Stockport mill.
Beaumont Adjusts Stand-Up Routine
Beaumont revealed she modified her comedy routine after the split, removing material that implied the marriage was intact. “I had jokes that I kept because they were still funny. There wasn’t loads about the marriage. Now I’m even more guarded about my personal life,” she stated.
The couple first met in 2013 through mutual friends and wed in April 2015. Fans were shocked by the news, especially as they co-starred in the mockumentary series Meet the Richardsons, which ran for five seasons and featured exaggerated versions of their lives alongside celebrity cameos and Beaumont’s mother, playwright Gill Adams.
Beaumont, raised in Hull and known for her observational humor as a former cleaner and teaching assistant, has long shared personal anecdotes onstage. However, she now draws firmer boundaries post-divorce, stating last September: “People might think I should talk about it because we were so public… but I won’t, and not because there’s any animosity.”
The duo was first photographed together in October 2024 at Manchester’s Lowry Theatre and later at Harrogate’s Royal Hall, with Wallace assisting with her bags.
