Netflix introduces a major redesign for its iPhone app, featuring a new vertical video feed called Clips. This update aims to simplify navigation and enhance content discovery, making it quicker and more engaging to find movies, shows, podcasts, or games.
Streamlined Navigation and User Experience
The redesign prioritizes simplicity, echoing recent updates to the TV app. Key changes include an expanded top navigation bar with additional options and a revamped bottom tab bar. The previous ‘New & Hot’ tab is replaced by dedicated ‘Search’ and ‘Clips’ tabs, placing essential features front and center for mobile users.
Clips: Personalized Vertical Video Feed
Clips serves as a customized highlight reel, helping users decide on their next watch without endless scrolling. Netflix describes it as a visual discovery tool tailored for smartphones.
Users gain three primary benefits from Clips:
- Add to My List: Quickly save movies or shows directly from the feed.
- Share: Relive key moments like dramatic twists or romantic scenes and share them via text or social media using the bottom arrow icon.
- Explore: Discover personalized recommendations for family nights, comedies, or other interests to guide viewing choices.
Netflix plans to expand Clips to include podcasts, live programming, and genre-based collections such as romance or niche topics.
Global Rollout Begins
The updated iPhone app launches today in select countries, including the US, UK, Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, and South Africa. A worldwide release follows in the coming months.
