Oregon sues Trump administration over plans to ship troops to Portland

The state of Oregon has filed a lawsuit towards the Trump administration after the president stated he’ll ship troops to Portland, state Lawyer Basic Dan Rayfield introduced Sunday.

It comes after Secretary of Protection Pete Hegseth despatched a memo to Gov. Tina Kotek authorizing 200 members of the Oregon Nationwide Guard to the town of Portland, Rayfield stated in a information launch. The troops are to be deployed for 60 days to guard federal property “the place protests are occurring or prone to happen,” he stated.

The lawsuit argued that Mr. Trump lacks authority to federalize the Nationwide Guard. California filed an identical lawsuit in June after the administration despatched troops to Los Angeles.
