Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice publicly confirms his relationship with rapper Rubi Rose on Valentine’s Day, just one month after his ex-girlfriend accused him of domestic violence.
New Relationship Announcement
Rice, 25, and Rose, 28, share multiple affectionate posts on Instagram. The couple poses for a mirror selfie, kisses, and rides a quad bike together. Rose, with nearly five million Instagram followers, also showcases luxury gifts, including high-end shoes from Rice and a designer bag she gives him.
Recent Domestic Violence Allegations
In early January, Dacoda Jones, mother of Rice’s two children, posts 14 photos on Instagram showing bruises, cuts, a damaged home, and torn clothes. She details years of alleged abuse in a statement:
“I’m so tired of keeping quiet. I’ve dealt with abuse for years… He’s very controlling… put his hands on me while I was pregnant… cut up all my shoes and clothes… It’s time to protect my peace, protect my children and stand up for myself.”
Jones deletes the posts days later without naming Rice directly, though the claims target him. Partners of former Chiefs teammates, including Chariah Gordon (Mecole Hardman’s partner) and Sheawna Weathersby (ex of Chris Jones), offer support. Rice’s grandmother denies the allegations, attributing them to a dispute over apartment payments.
NFL Response
The Chiefs acknowledge awareness of the post. The NFL launches an investigation the next day. Rice issues no public response.
Rice’s Prior Legal Issues
In July 2025, Rice receives a 30-day jail sentence and five years’ probation for a May 2024 Dallas highway crash. He races a friend in a Lamborghini, flees the scene, and pleads guilty to felony charges involving serious bodily injury. He pays victims $115,482 in medical costs.
Chiefs’ Future Outlook
Rice serves a six-game suspension at the start of last season due to the crash and recovers from a prior ACL tear. On a $6.5 million contract, he remains a key talent despite the Chiefs’ 6-11 record and playoff miss. Coach Andy Reid plans offseason changes.
