Robert Irwin has revealed a surprising motivation behind his packed schedule: he experiences physical illness when he is idle. The renowned conservationist stated that his demanding workload is not solely driven by ambition but by a personal necessity.
A Constant Need to Move
“I can’t stand being still; it makes me physically ill. That’s not even an analogy. I actually get physically nauseous if I’m inside,” Irwin explained. “I have to just always be going. If I don’t, I don’t sleep. I feel like I’m going to just pass out.”
The 22-year-old has maintained an incredibly busy pace in recent months, balancing television projects with his ongoing responsibilities at Australia Zoo and various conservation initiatives. Discussing his demanding commitments, which recently included hosting a spin-off of Dancing With The Stars for American audiences filmed in Queensland, Irwin admitted to a tendency to overcommit.
“I say yes to too much, that’s the problem!” he quipped. “I say yes to everything, but when I go home, the real work for Australia Zoo and my conservation projects begins. My day job starts when I get back… I love that.”
Addressing James Bond Speculation
Irwin also weighed in on speculation regarding the next James Bond, as Hollywood searches for a successor to the iconic spy. “If Jacob pulls out, I’m there. I don’t know if my first role can be James Bond, but I wouldn’t say no. A khaki tux? Obviously! And the villain would be habitat destruction,” he joked.
He also confirmed a guest appearance this coming Wednesday as a judge on MasterChef Australia. “My approach is: if you’re going to do it, you’ve got to go all out,” he stated.
Growing International Interest
While currently a prominent figure in Australian television, industry insiders suggest that Hollywood is increasingly taking notice of Irwin. As rival networks vie for his talent with significant hosting deals, industry figures indicate that international opportunities are beginning to emerge, potentially influencing his local commitments.
Sources close to the matter suggest that film producers are particularly drawn to Irwin’s broad appeal across entertainment, lifestyle, conservation, and family demographics. “He already feels bigger than just one television network,” a source commented. “That’s exactly the kind of trajectory people around him are now talking about.”
While there is no immediate indication of Irwin departing Australian television, many executives privately believe his international career may be a matter of time. “The industry absolutely sees him as somebody who could become Australia’s next major global star,” an insider remarked. “Hollywood is definitely starting to notice.”
Teasing a Big-Screen Debut
Irwin recently hinted at a potential big-screen appearance by sharing a trailer on Instagram for a project seemingly titled Max Impact. The preview featured Irwin in his signature khakis, navigating a jungle environment. “Something epic is coming,” he captioned the post.
