Sandwell Council has greenlit plans for 10 new council homes on a vacant plot opposite Greets Green Park in West Bromwich. The development includes four five-bedroom houses, four two-bedroom houses, and two two-bedroom bungalows at the corner of Clayplit Lane and Coppice Street.
Final Phase of Local Housing Project
Interclass Construction Services submitted the planning application, which Sandwell Council approved. These homes represent the concluding element in broader housing initiatives for the site facing the park. All units will belong to Sandwell Council and serve as rental properties.
Site History and Transformation
The plot previously functioned as a site office for a 200-home development constructed around Coppice Street in the early 2010s. Before that, terraced houses occupied the land until their demolition about a decade earlier, leaving the area unused and neglected.
Planning Details and Benefits
The application outlines the erection of 10 dwellings with improvements to site access, parking, and landscaping. It emphasizes that the site once supported housing and now offers an opportunity for high-quality accommodations that enhance the surrounding neighborhood character. Officials note no negative impacts from the project, positioning it as a positive addition to the community.
