In 2014, an 18-year-old Texas resident named Kevin Jazrael Davis committed a gruesome murder in the apartment he shared with his 50-year-old mother, Kimberly Hill. Davis later confessed to long-standing disturbing sexual impulses from childhood and revealed his hatred for people along with suicidal thoughts. When Hill responded that she could not stop him if that was his choice, Davis perceived it as disdain, igniting overwhelming rage.
The Brutal Assault
Davis approached his mother from behind as she sat on the living room couch and attempted to strangle her with a cable. When she screamed, he grabbed a hammer and struck her head more than 20 times. To ensure her death, he inserted a knife into her brain, twisting it, and later probed it with his bare hand, describing the sensation as feeling like ‘putty.’ Afterward, Davis sexually assaulted his mother’s body before walking to a neighbor’s house to call police and surrender.
Interrogation Revelations
During police questioning, Davis admitted to the assault when asked if it was his ‘first time,’ stating, ‘I guess I lost my virginity to a dead corpse.’ Pressed on any remorse for killing his mother, he replied, ‘In a way, yes. But I wouldn’t take back what I did.’ He added, ‘It’s strange, really. I did love her. She’s been the best mother.’ Davis also confessed to previously killing the family cat by strangling and drowning it, noting that ‘family looks past that kind of stuff or they try not to look at it.’
Trial and Sentencing
In court, Davis remained impassive as his sister Desirae testified, ‘You took the only person who had your back. Now you are all alone.’ He sighed nonchalantly, smiled during other testimonies, and waved at witnesses. Describing himself as ‘perverted, terrible and disgusting,’ Davis insisted he was fully sane during the crime. After rejecting a proposed 60-year sentence, according to his lawyer James Lawrence, Davis pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and received a life sentence.
