BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A sequence of reported threats towards traditionally Black schools and universities throughout the U.S. on Thursday led to lockdown orders, canceled courses and heightened safety.

Authorities didn’t elaborate on the kind of threats that had been made and no accidents have been reported. The FBI informed The Related Press that they’re taking the “hoax risk calls“ significantly and that there’s “no data to point a reputable risk.”

Though lockdowns have since been lifted, faculties that obtained the threats proceed to behave with an abundance of warning. In an period of mass shootings — and following a wave of violence Wednesday and a spate of hoax calls about energetic shooters firstly of the varsity yr — some universities opted to name off courses for the remainder of the week and ship college students residence.
