Washington — The Trump administration has terminated the Nationwide Hyperlinks Belief’s lease with the Nationwide Park Service to handle, function and renovate Washington, D.C.’s three municipal golf programs, successfully taking again federal management of the programs.
Nationwide Hyperlinks Belief, a nonprofit that claims its goal is to make golf accessible to the general public, mentioned the Trump administration is asserting they’re in default of the lease, a characterization with which the group strongly disagrees. The lease was 5 years into its 50-year time period overlaying the district’s Rock Creek, East Potomac and Langston programs. The Nationwide Park Service owns the land.
“We’re essentially in disagreement with the administration’s characterization of NLT as being in default beneath the lease,” the group mentioned in an announcement. “We’ve all the time had a productive and cooperative working relationship with the Nationwide Park Service and have labored hand in hand on all elements of our golf course operations and improvement initiatives.”
Nationwide Hyperlinks Belief mentioned the programs will stay open for now, however long-term renovation initiatives will stop.
