Britain’s iconic cities fuel a creative collaboration between Days Brewing Company and Ford of Britain, resulting in three unique 0% beers inspired by Manchester, Bristol, and Edinburgh. These lagers gain their distinct flavors from journeys through the cities themselves, mixed in the boots of Ford Puma Gen-E electric vehicles.
Innovative Brewing Process
Kegs of beer sit in the 145-litre waterproof GigaBox of the Puma Gen-E, Britain’s top-selling electric car. The vehicles travel through the cities, where the motion and rhythm infuse the brews with local character. The finished beers serve directly from the car boots at a pop-up event in East London’s trendy Shoreditch.
The City-Inspired Beers
Manchester: Hushed Honey
This smooth, sweet lager draws from the Northern Quarter’s cobbled alleys and Manchester’s famous bee symbol. It balances honey’s richness with crisp hops, earning top marks among tasters for its innovative mead-like profile in a non-alcoholic format.
Bristol: Electric Apple
A crisp, clean apple lager captures the energy of tackling Vale Street’s steep inclines. It delivers punchy flavor without excessive sugar, positioning it as a strong contender that challenges traditional ciders.
Edinburgh: Bold Berries
Juicy berry notes evoke the tight wynds of the Old Town. While refreshing, its yogurt-like taste ranks it third among the trio for some palates.
Manchester’s Hushed Honey stands out as the clear favorite, blending sweetness and hops perfectly.
Expert Insights
Mike Gammell, co-founder of Days Brewing Company, stated: “Here’s a sentence I didn’t think I’d be saying this year: we just made a new range of non-alcoholic beers in the back of a car. Partnering with Ford to use the Puma Gen-E to physically infuse our brews with the spirit of a city was a perfect match. It’s a celebration of local discovery, and the result is a range of genuinely unique 0.0% beers that taste of their hometown.”
These limited-edition beers do not appear on supermarket shelves but feature in Days’ nationwide tour, offering chances to sample them throughout the year. The partnership highlights a shared innovative spirit, urging people to explore Britain’s urban gems.
