Vincent Marissal, the Member of the National Assembly for Rosemont, announces he will not pursue re-election in Quebec’s 2026 provincial election.

Marissal revealed the decision on social media Monday, explaining his need to rediscover himself and contribute to Quebec through alternative avenues. “The last thing I want is to get involved in another controversy, a nasty power struggle or a polemic,” he stated.

Political Background

Marissal first secured the Rosemont seat in 2018 as a Québec Solidaire representative. He held the role of health critic in the National Assembly and championed upgrades to the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital in his constituency.

In November 2025, Québec Solidaire expelled him, prompting Marissal to sit as an independent. He had already resolved to depart the party amid discussions with Parti Québécois Leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon about a potential switch ahead of the 2026 vote.

Future Endeavors

Looking forward, Marissal eyes writing projects and further reflection on his political tenure. “I harbor no bitterness toward anyone and I take full responsibility for my actions and public statements,” he affirmed.

He voiced deep pride in his two elections by Rosemont voters and appreciation for their continued trust and warmth.
