Vivo continues to elevate mobile photography standards with the X300 Ultra, featuring two 200MP sensors, a groundbreaking 400mm teleconverter lens, and an enhanced second-generation 200mm lens. To test these capabilities, the device and its dedicated camera kit underwent real-world trials in Hong Kong, including at Ocean Park, where they proved far more than mere accessories.
Comprehensive Camera Kit Enhances Usability
The camera ecosystem for the X300 Ultra includes a mounting case, lanyard, 200mm and 400mm teleconverter lenses with protective caps, color-matched protective filters for the main camera, a battery-integrated camera grip that doubles as a power bank, and Arca-Swiss compatible tripod collars.
The upgraded camera grip offers expanded controls: a dedicated video record button, scroll wheel, zoom lever, flash button, shutter button, and a customizable function button. Software customization allows actions like double-pressing the shutter to activate Street Photography mode for instant shots. This setup delivers superior stabilization, enabling smooth video capture even with hand tremors, eliminating the need for Action mode in many scenarios.
Advanced Teleconverter Lenses Deliver Compact Power
The second-generation 200mm lens (2.35x optical) is slimmer and more compact, re-engineered for maintained image quality while attaching to the 85mm telephoto sensor. The new 400mm lens, though larger and heavier, supports digital zoom up to 3200mm. Both fit securely in a sling bag for all-day carry.
Mounting is straightforward with a rotate-and-lock mechanism. Activating Telephoto Extender mode in the Camera app prompts lens selection (200mm or 400mm), readying the system for use.
Exceptional Image and Video Quality
At Ocean Park, the 400mm lens captured intricate details on a distant panda, revealing individual fur strands and natural bokeh unattainable with standard phone sensors or digital zoom. Switching to the 200mm lens for moving subjects benefited from the shutter’s half-press focus-and-exposure lock.
These shots showcase unmatched detail and composition flexibility, free from excessive digital sharpening thanks to Vivo’s refined image processing pipeline.
Video performance advances with higher-bitrate LOG recording, 10-bit LOG across all lenses, seamless switching, one-tap color grading via built-in filters, and a Pro Video mode mimicking cinema camera interfaces for streamlined editing.
Future Prospects for Global Availability
Currently exclusive to China, the Vivo X300 Ultra highlights rapid progress in flagship smartphone cameras from Chinese manufacturers. The comparable Oppo Find X9 Ultra launches globally on April 21, setting the stage for direct camera comparisons.
